Mrs. Confer’s Lincoln Kindergarten Class          December 18, 2020
No School 12/19-1/3 Monday Jan 4 - School resumes Jan 18 - No School - MLK Day Jan 24 and 25 - ½ days for Conferences Please have a wonderful break.  Encourage your children to rest and relax.  Try to limit screen time and encourage outdoor exercise. Handwriting:   I would like each child to practice their writing/handwriting over break.  Endurance and Hand strength are important as the rigor increases in the new year and students will be writing more.   Free writing or using an inexpensive workbook like at Dollar tree is fine.  30 minutes a day of reading and writing would be great. SeeSaw - I will load optional activities over break for children to do. Lexia - Students are always welcome to log into Clever and practice their reading skills on Lexia.  For reference, the goal is that all children be on level 6 by the end of the year. Sight word lists are coming home and those can be used as flashcards.   As a whole this class is doing very well with their academic development.  January will be a review of what we have learned so far and all of our behavior goals and expectations.	Grinchmas Party - Today we celebrated the Classic Dr Seuss Story - How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  We looked at how the Grinch changed and learned to help people.  Please look at the Grinch - Grow your heart challenge and help your child think of ways to help others.  When students return their 3 ways worksheet in January they will earn a prize. Headphones - All children need working and comfortable headphones.  I will be sending these home over break so that you can check with your child to see if they are working and comfortable. New Headphones and new water bottles make great holiday gifts Donations for the new year   We will be in need of these items in January:  paper towels, baby wipes, black dry erase markers, crayola crayons - 8 or 16 packs.
